Location. Annunziata Tower and Naples

Oplontis was a villa near Pompeii in the Roman Empire. On August 24, 79 A.D. it was buried under a deep layer of ash due to the eruption of Vesuvius. Today it is indicated as the villa of Emperor Nero’s second wife, Poppea. There are wonderful frescoes still preserved. Next we will visit the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, which also has a large collection of Roman artifacts from Pompeii, Stabia and Herculaneum.
