It is still active and it considered to be one of the most dangerous volcano of the world.In the area around live today about 1,000,000 people.Mount Vesuvius at the moment is quiescent.The area around Vesuvius was officially declared a national park on June 5, 1995.There is access by road to within 200 meters of the summit, but thereafter access is on foot only.
You can combine a visit on the volcano with a tour in the excavations of Pompeii or Ercolano.

Umberto Gallery in Naples
Umberto gallery is a public shopping gallery of Naples. It was built between 1887- 1891, and was the cornerstone in the decades-long rebuilding of Naples. It is a splendid Liberty-style (Italian Art Nouveau) construction with obvious Parisian inspiration.

The city of Paestum was a greek colony founded around the end of the 7th century.The archeological site lies in the province of Salerno.
The three temples of Paestum are very well preserved and together with the museum represent an important greek testimony of the greek colonists in Campania region.
The museum is mainly famous for the the burial monument named Tomb of the Diver where inside is represented an enigmatic scene of a lonely young man diving into a stream of water(about 470 BC),
I recommend to visit together with Paestum also the city of Salerno and a Mozzarella factory.

The Ferriere Valley is a protected natural area of Campania in the Province of Salerno.
The trekking to the Ferriere Valley is slightly difficult with a duration of about 3 hours and a vertical drop of 500 meters downhill and uphill 250. You can also see the ruins of paper mills in the twelfth century.
